'Esi' Adinkra Earring

44.00 USD

These earrings keep in the tradition of the Ashante region's art and culture. Adinkra symbols, created by the Akan of Ghana and Gyaman of Cote' d'lvoire, date back to the 17th century. This particular symbol GYE NYAME ('Except for God'), is extremely popular within Ghana, and stands for the Supremacy of God. Similar earrings from this jeweler have been worn and have drawn a lot of positive attention!!

The jewelry is hand-casted by a skilled gold- and silversmith from Washington, DC whose knowledge and various travels to western Africa serve as inspiration. Each piece is unique and has the beauty and imperfections of handmade art.
